Mombasa, 3 October 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) held a three days regional training workshop on “Human Rights and Counter Terrorism” from 30 September to 2 October 2014 in Mombasa, Kenya. The training was conducted in collaboration with the United Nations on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC). The meeting was officially opened by Commander Abebe Muluneh, the Head of ISSP, and co-presided by Mr. Ulrich Grams from UNODC.
Juba, 3 October 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) conducted a two days validation workshop on the “National Assessment on the needs and relevance of Security Sector Reform/Transformation and DDR for South Sudan” from 30 September to 1 October 2014 in Juba, South Sudan.
Addis Ababa, 17 September 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) concluded a two days high level regional workshop to promote and sensitize the IGAD Conventions on Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) and Extradition on 16-17 September 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting was officially opened by Ambassador Tewolde Gebremeskel, the Director of Peace & Security Division of IGAD and was co-presided by Commander Abebe Muluneh, the Head of ISSP.
Khartoum, 14 September 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) conducted two national workshops for Senior Officials of Sudan from 8-10 September 2014 in Khartoum, Sudan. The first workshop was on the Legal Instruments of Counter Terrorism. The second workshop was a validation of the “Border Security and Management on the Sudan-Libya Border Research: Recommendations for Enhanced Border Control and Management.”
