Addis Ababa, 17 September 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) concluded a two days high level regional workshop to promote and sensitize the IGAD Conventions on Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) and Extradition on 16-17 September 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting was officially opened by Ambassador Tewolde Gebremeskel, the Director of Peace & Security Division of IGAD and was co-presided by Commander Abebe Muluneh, the Head of ISSP.
National workshops for Sudan Officials held
Khartoum, 14 September 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) conducted two national workshops for Senior Officials of Sudan from 8-10 September 2014 in Khartoum, Sudan. The first workshop was on the Legal Instruments of Counter Terrorism. The second workshop was a validation of the “Border Security and Management on the Sudan-Libya Border Research: Recommendations for Enhanced Border Control and Management.”
The IGAD Maritime Security Training Manual Validated
Bishoftu, 10 September 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) conducted a three days regional workshop to validate the IGAD Maritime Security training Manual commissioned by the Office from 2-4 September 2014 in Bishoftu, Ethiopia. The meeting was officially opened by Ambassador Tewolde Gebremeskel, the Director of Peace & Security Division of IGAD and was co-presided by Commander Abebe Muluneh, the Head of ISSP.
ISSP in collaboration GCTF Conducted a Regional Workshop
Kampala, 31 August 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP), in collaboration with the Global Counter Terrorism Forum (GCTF), held a three days regional workshop on “Advanced Techniques for Interrogation, Investigation and Prosecution as Good Practices for Effective Counter Terrorism in the Greater Horn of Africa (HoA) Region” from 26-28 August 2014 in Kampala, Uganda. The meeting was officially opened by the Honorable justice Moses Mkiibi, the head of the International Crimes division of the High Court of Uganda and was co-presided by Commander Abebe Muluneh, the Head of ISSP. Dr. Simon Nyambura, the Head of Counter Terrorism Pillar at ISSP, chaired the meeting.
ISSP Concluded a Regional Workshop on Transnational Organized Crime (TOC)
Khartoum, 31 August 2014 – IGAD Security Sector Program (ISSP) held a three days regional training on “Promoting International Legal Instruments on Preventing and Countering TOC” from 25-27 August 2014 in Khartoum, Sudan. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tuemay Aregawi, the Head of Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) Pillar at ISSP who thanked welcomed all participants and thanked the government of Sudan for the workshop and particularly the National Counter Terrorism Commission of Sudan (NCTC) and its Director and staff for the great hospitality.
