17 May 2023 – Bishoftu, Ethiopia: IGAD’s Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), undertook a 2-days high-level national workshop for Ethiopia’s law enforcement and criminal justice sector to enhance interagency cooperation and coordination to address the existing, emerging, and evolving transnational security threat on 16-17 May 2023.

11 May 2023 – Entebbe, Uganda:  IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) conducted a three-days regional validation workshop to critically review and validate the IGAD Member States’ Criminal Justice Sector Capacity Needs Assessment held on 9-11 May 2023 in Entebbe, Uganda.  The primary objective of the workshop was to review, evaluate, improve, and validate the findings and suggested recommendations of the draft report.

 28 April 2023 – Entebbe, Uganda:  IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) conducted a three-days regional forum for Networks of Judges, Prosecutors and Crime Investigators to enhance Criminal Information Sharing against Transnational Security Threats held on 26-28 April 2023 in Entebbe, Uganda.  The overall objective of the forum was to forge a formal network for an effective criminal information sharing as part of regional cooperation and coordination among the Police, the Criminal Justice Sector, and the Judiciary.

23  March 2023 – Nairobi, Kenya: IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully conducted a regional training workshop on regional and international normative frameworks and initiatives on Transnational Organized Crimes (TOC) including the opportunities, challenges, and prospects to IGAD and its MSs to strengthen cross-border cooperation on 20-23 March 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.

 10 March 2023 – Bishoftu, Ethiopia: IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully conducted a national inter-university, research, and policy institutions Seminar on good practices of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (TiP & SoM) on 6-10 March 2023 in Bishoftu, Ethiopia.  The overall objective of the seminar was to provide a platform for these institutions and relevant state actors for exchange of ideas, sharing of information, and creating a mechanism to have the knowledge products that are available as well as create a future collaborative environment for an effective prevention and countering of the threat in the country and beyond.
