26 March 2021, Entebbe - Uganda - The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a four-days regional/bilateral training to Uganda and Kenya Non-State Actors (CSOs and Media) on the Transnational Security Threats (TSTs) specifically on Human Trafficking, Migrant Smuggling, and their Criminal Proceeds held on 22-25 March 2021. The objective of the training was to provide the trainees with the necessary skill and knowledge about the threat of human trafficking and migrant smuggling along with their criminal proceeds.
Technical National Workshop on C-IED Approaches conducted for Kenya
14 March 2021, Mombasa-Kenya - The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a four-days technical national workshop on the C-IED approaches to enhance the capabilities of security institutions for Kenya. This training was the second provided for Kenya, which was conducted back in 2014 whereby the basic concepts and methods of C-IED were covered. The objective of the training was to strengthen the technical capabilities, skills and knowledge of Security Institutions in their efforts to counter the manufacture and use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
Kenya National Training on Border Security and Traveler Identification System on the Aviation Domain
10 March 2021 - Mombasa, Kenya: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD-SSP) has successfully concluded a three-days national training on Border Security and Traveler Identification Systems in the Aviation Domain. The objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of officials in the border security immigration and customs of Kenya - focusing on air travel - to effectively prevent, detect, and intercept the entry or transit of suspected terrorists, foreign terrorist fighters and other serious criminals when such individuals
Ethiopia National Training on Border Security and Traveler Identification System on the Aviation Domain
24 February 2021, Bishoftu-Ethiopia: The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a three-days national training on Border Security and Traveler Identification Systems on the Aviation Domain. The objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of officials in the aviation security, immigration and intelligence of Ethiopia to effectively prevent, detect, and intercept the entry or transit of suspected terrorists, foreign terrorist fighters and other serious criminals when such individuals attempt to enter or transit through airports with the use of biometric data and advanced traveler identification methods.
Ethiopia National Training on the Role of Media in Countering Terrorism, Violent Extremism and Political Violence Conducted
16 December 2020, Bishoftu - Ethiopia - The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) has successfully concluded a three days national training on the Role of Media in Preventing and Countering Terrorism. The objective of the training was to raise awareness on the role the media plays as well as enhance the capacities of journalists, editors, and media professionals in countering and preventing terrorism, violent extremism, and other serious crimes.
